A SHORT HISTORY OF CHILTERN PROBUS CLUB
(2005-2023)
Introduction
In March 2023 I was pleased to accept an invitation from the incoming Chairman, Kevin Sowden, to draft a history of Chiltern Probus (“the Club”).
As I joined in late 2005, I had ready access to a considerable number of files and other relevant sources, particularly those relating to:
Committee meetings (minutes and reports)
annual general meetings (ditto)
speaker programmes, including the card versions previously printed and distributed by Derek Youell
newsletters (from March 2014)
the wide range of activities organised by the relevant lead members.
Founder member Derek Youell also kindly briefed me on his set of working papers relating to the informal discussions held as a prelude to the formal establishment of the Club see also his contribution in Members’ Reminiscences.
